Michael Sibus

Tax Senior

Over his decade-long career in accounting, Michael has built a strong background in helping individuals and business clients solve tax planning issues, budgeting, payroll, and software-related problems. Entrepreneurial since childhood, Michael spent much of his youth pondering capital management while working for his family’s various consumer goods stores. Ultimately, that curiosity inspired a life-long career after taking his first elective course in accounting while attending college. After graduating with his BBA in Accounting from Idaho State University, Michael served 11 years as a Staff Accountant at O’Brien, Tomchak & Co., before joining the team at Harris in 2021. With extensive experience across multiple functions, Michael is skilled in everything from tax returns, journal entries and account reconciliations, compilations and reviews, to operating budgets and performance projections.

Michael grew up in sunny Southern California, where he played high school football during the team’s back-to-back undefeated champion streak. A sports enthusiast through and through, Michael hopes to fulfill a bucket list goal of attending a FIFA World Cup Championship event in the future. When he’s not outdoors mountain biking, hiking, fishing, kayaking, or hitting the slopes, Michael enjoys spending time with his fiancé, Jenny Rose, and actively managing his own investment portfolio. If asked about his hero, Michael will passionately attribute his success to his mother, who he says, “led by example, thrived against adversity, and taught me to never give up.”
