Debbie Arstein

Controller

As Controller, Debbie plays a vital role in Harris’ success. She oversees all financial-related activities, including accounting, payroll, financial reporting, and manages the forecasting and budgeting processes. Debbie evaluates and advises on financial implications of Harris business activities and objectives, and makes recommendations to enhance the firm’s fiscal performance.

Debbie’s strong accounting background—spanning more than three decades—is key to her successful efforts to bolster Harris’ continued growth as a sound, community-centered, and forward-thinking firm. She has served as controller and CFO in the technology and education sectors, enabling her to apply unique insights to fiscal strategy and planning in her advisory role with partners and clients. Her strengths include creating strong internal controls and building efficiencies that help streamline business operations, increase revenue, and create a more rewarding workplace.

Debbie stumbled into accounting while originally pursuing a degree in computer science. She traded in differential equations for debits and credits and never looked back. Her passion for education is well suited for an ever evolving industry like accounting which regularly adapts reporting standards to changes in the financial world. At least it doesn’t involve “new math.”

At a young age, Debbie got started in sports playing basketball and softball all the way through high school. She’s a fan of all LA sports teams, having grown up in California, and one of her goals is to visit every major league baseball park. When not at the office, you’ll find her spending time with family and friends and on the hiking trails of Southern Idaho. Debbie has been married to her husband Mark for 23 years, and together they have three kids – all grown and on their own.
